Crying Out for Compassion

OUR TIMES CRY OUT for a mass movement of compassion. This urgent need coincides with the goal of the Christ-following life, for unless our faith makes us compassionate, it can hardly be called Christian.
Following Jesus means moving out of our privatized, isolated, and self-enclosed worlds into a compassionate engagement with our suffering neighbor. As we open ourselves to the pilgrimage experience, … we journey from self-centeredness to compassion. May you and I become everyday pilgrims whom God can use to bring healing to our broken world.

Be- Loved

WE ARE ENOUGH: God knew us before the world was framed (Ephesians 1:4) and knit us together before we were born (Psalm 139:13), creating us in God’s image (Genesis 1:27). God says that we are enough because our worth is found in Christ. To find ourselves, we must lose ourselves in Christ.

The Gazebo Blogger

~I’m Nobody! Who are you?

Are you – Nobody – too?
Then there’s a pair of us!
Don’t tell! they’d advertise – you know!
How dreary – to be – Somebody!
How public – like a Frog –
To tell one’s name – the livelong June –
To an admiring Bog!*~

Emily Dickinson, 1830 - 1886

[bäɡ, bôɡ]

"the island is a wilderness of bog" ·
    synonyms: marsh · swamp · muskeg · mire · quagmire · morass ·
  2. a bathroom.
VERB
  1. cause (a vehicle, person, or animal) to become stuck in mud or wet ground:
"the car became bogged down on the beach road"

Go with God

SOMETIMES IT TAKES going into the wilderness to learn who we are and what we need. From time to time, God draws us toward a terrain where the familiar contours of our lives disappear, where we leave our landmarks behind, where we let go the people and patterns and possessions that orient us. It doesn’t often require taking ourselves to a literal wilderness in the manner that Jesus did. But his sojourn there reminds us there is wisdom in knowing when to turn toward a place, a person, or a practice that can help us see what we cannot always see under our own power.
BLESSING
In this and every season,
may you travel toward the place
God desires for you.
May you walk in the company
of those who know the way.
May you go well.
